How can therapy help me?

Therapy is a valuable tool to support your mental wellbeing. Whether you are processing trauma or looking to deepen your self-awareness, the therapeutic experience is designed to be a safe and compassionate space for you to grow.

What is your approach to working with clients?

I am committed to creating a relaxed, conversational, and collaborative therapeutic experience by bringing my warmth, compassion, curiosity, and sense of humour to all of my sessions.

What can I expect at my first session?

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and for me to answer any questions you might have. Common topics covered include reasons for seeking therapy, previous experiences with therapy, and exploring relationships.

What modalities do you use?

At Leaf & Lantern Psychotherapy, all therapies are trauma-informed and incorporate elements of IFS (Internal Family Systems), client-centred, and humanistic psychotherapy. Yumiko uses a personalized, integrative combination of these modalities to best honour your therapeutic goals and needs.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

A limited number of sliding scale sessions are available for clients who are experiencing financial hardships. Please connect with me to discuss your unique situation.

Is therapy covered by insurance?

Although psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP, it is included in many employee benefits packages. Leaf & Lantern Psychotherapy will always provide you with an invoice for you to submit for insurance purposes.
